Before the Japanese invasion ,the School House was turned into an emergency military hospital by the Hong Kong Government shortly
The troops were out of control and about 150-200 troops broke into the hospital (School House) and start the "St. Stephen's College Massacre"
56 British and Canadian soldiers who are still wounded in their beds were killed, as well as some medical and College staff.
During the Japanese occupation from 1941 to 1945, the College was turned into an Internment Camp.
About one thousand internees were housed in St. Stephen's College.
The School house is now use for the classroom and the student's quarters to resume its role in education and the assembly hall was reconstructed into a library
