301 W. First, c. 1846 - 1849, Greek Revival. Designed and built by Francis Costigan for steamboat captain, merchant, flour mill owner and mayor of Madison, Charles Shrewsbury. The paint in the drawing room was applied in 1849 and has never been painted over. Pictured on the front.
