This fenced parking lot, and sometimes homeless encampment, is the site of one of the Oakland homes of Marie and William Graves. Their home probably looked like the other older homes remaining on Magnolia Street.
The Graves were members of the Oakland Branch, and the first Black Latter-day Saints on the west coast. More information about the Graves can be found here: http://www.keepapitchinin.org/2018/09/12/william-and-marie-graves-we-found-the-right-church-all-right/
