Smith Reynolds Airport now serves as base of operations for corporate aircraft, air charter services, air cargo and commercial aircraft maintenance.
Commercial service ceased operations in 2000.
The airport began as a grass landing strip until 1927 when city officials learned that the famous Charles Lindbergh would be visiting and improvements to the facilities were made. Just a few weeks ago, the Smith Reynolds Airport welcomed Air Force One.
