St John’s Church was totally rebuilt after the 1943 bombing. The original church was consecrated in 1860 but in 1943 the bombing caused total destruction with only the altar left standing. The church was rebuilt after the War and was consecrated in June 1957. It is one of Newbury’s modern listed buildings.
Carefully cross St John’s Road and enter the Memorial Garden.
