St. Theresa was built in 1911 in the style of Romanesque Revival. Prior to this building, mass was held in a wood structure at the corner of Second and Maple. Since the establishment of the Parish in 1882, the Catholic community has often been called on to help address challenges that each building gave them. In every case, the community contributions exceeded expectations. The central altar has one of the most beautiful altars in Kansas. Marble from Mexico, Italy and Vermont adorn it. In 1975, the Church underwent a substantial renovation to bring it up to modern codes. Sidewalks, gutters and brick repair were all addressed. Interior projects such as repairing the stained glass windows and replacing the pews were all undertaken. Today the church continues its active role as a vital leader in community issues.
