Information

  • It was built on the foundation of Hong Kong at 1840 century.​

  • Built and managed by commonwealth war graves commission.​

  • One of the earliest military cemetery in Hong Kong.​

  • Location: Stanley Wong Ma Kok Road

  • In 1942, Japan army started encroachment on Hong Kong. ​

  • The major battlefield was held on Hong Kong island, especially in Stanley. ​

  • Because there were many dead bodies during the battle and massacre, Stanley military cemetery reopened for the burial people. ​

  • There are two monuments to mourn the people who died from 1941 to 1945. ​

  • One records the year, and one records the bible scripture.

  • Major function before the battle of Hong Kong: ​

  • Burial British Forces Overseas Hong Kong and its kinship ​

  • The cemetery closed and reopened again because of the battle of Hong Kong ​

  • In the reopening of 1942, the cemetery for: ​

  • Bury the people who sacrifice in the war, which include the victims, prisoners of war, royal Hong Kong regiment & British army aid group.
