Created By: Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County
Our most recent acquisition of buildable land is Stone Terrace, an abandoned development that is the last remnant of the fallout from the great recession of 2008 in our area. Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County purchased this incomplete new neighborhood from the former developers in December 2019.
Along with our Neighborhood Revitalization work, this project is vital to meet the needs of the community, grow our capacity, and concentrate our construction activity in an efficient manner. Similar in size to Glenn Oaks, there are 75 buildable lots in this neighborhood with utilities and infrastructure mostly in place.
Our vision is to transform this all-but-forgotten development into workforce housing composed of homeowners who graduate from Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County's homeownership program, as well as market rate homes for buyers at higher income levels. Research shows that this mixed income strategy provides better outcomes in economic mobility.
We anticipate this project will take at least five years.
