Sumatran Orangutans are highly intelligent and adept at problem solving. They even make tools to probe for food and use leaves to hold water and protect themselves from rain. Solitary animals, orangutans make nests out of leaves and twigs high in the trees. These nests are usually abandoned after one use. Young orangutans will stay with their mothers for eight years before going to live on their own. Sumatran Orangutans have difficulty making expressions due to a lack of facial muscles in their face.
