The third place of the tour is Tai Kwun. Tai Kwun is composed of three declared monuments: Central Police Station, Central Magistracy and Victoria Prison. After revitalization, it was redeveloped into a cultural and shopping destination and opened to the public in 2018.
Central Police Station: The oldest structure within the police station was built in 1864, a three-storey barrack block. A storey was later added to the block in 1905. Therefore, it has four-storey nowadays. In 1919, Headquarters Block facing Hollywood Road was constructed. The buildings were built in the Victorian Colonial style. The police station was decommissioned in 2004.
Central Magistracy: It was constructed in 1914, located on Arbuthnot Road. The building was built in Greek-revival style. It housed two courtrooms and opened for its first hearing in April 1915. It was decommissioned in 1979.
Victoria Prison: It was the first and longest-running prison to date in Hong Kong. It is located on Old Bailey Street. The oldest building of the prison was completed on 4 August 1841, known as Victoria Goal, and was renamed Victoria Prison in 1899. It was decommissioned in 2006.
