The Fredenburgh House ~ 4 Mountain Road
This home is a typical example of Ontario’s fine, old, rural homes. It represents the sturdy and practical style being built in the early to mid 1800s using materials common to the area. Roger Rorison, a veteran of the War of 1812, built this home. It features many unique items such as the two front windows with multi paned sashes – a rare 15 panes to each—a tent awning verandah roof built on curved rafters, rear quoins or cornerstones extending out for future extensions, and a deep well lined with stones. It has been kept in fine repair and has been modernized and naturalized in a way that blends everlasting beauty with its historical charm.
