Downtown Burgaw was the main filming location and transformed for the musical movie, Idlewild. The movie takes place in a club that is taken over by gangsters, written and directed by Bryan Barker. Stars include Andre Benjamin as Percival, Big Boi from the hip hop duo OutKast as Rooster, Paula Patton as Angel, Terrence Howard as Trumpy, and Faizon Love as Sunshine. The movie features several musical numbers written, produced, and performed by OutKast.

This downtown storefront was also a backdrop in the filming of Revolution. As you see in one of the pictures, the storefront and parked cars served as a landscape void of electricity, a world of empty towns, where cars, phones, & lights had mysteriously blacked out forever.

Cast members loved our small-town charm, visiting many of our local shops including our favorite Brown Dog Coffee Shop. Click here for more pictures of the cast and filming of Revolution!
