Issac and Laura Dakin moved into their newly constructed home on July 1st, 1853. Laura was Mrs. Locke’s sister. Many of the cultural improvements sprang forth from meetings held at the Dakin home. The Knights Ferry Church and the school on the hilltop were outgrowth events due to the efforts of Laura Daking and others in the community working together. The home is an outstanding example of gracious architecture of that time
