The Landing Reserve

Albany Village History Walk

The Landing Reserve

Auckland, Auckland 0622, New Zealand

Created By: Auckland Council

Information

For much of its recent history, Albany was a fruit-growing area. The path through The Landing Reserve from Days Bridge to Kell Park passes through an area that was once orchards. It is now a grassy parkland along the west bank of Ōtehā Stream. As the path reaches Lucas Creek, it forks with a path that continues to the southwest. This eventually reaches Wharf Road, where the Lower Landing of Lucas Creek was located. Boats that were too large to continue upstream or that had missed their tidal window would load or unload goods here.

Follow the path through The Landing Reserve. When you reach the path to Landing Drive, stay right and continue north until you cross Ōtehā Stream.
