The Tavern
The Tavern Restaurant, is one of Abingdon’s oldest buildings, built in 1779. The building was used from its beginning as a tavern and overnight inn for stagecoach travelers. Dining at The Tavern is a long-standing tradition in Abingdon, VA. Guests experience a friendly, relaxed and informal atmosphere. The building has hosted many businesses such as a post office, barber shop, residence and a antiques shop. The upper floors served as a hospital during the Civil War.
