693 Mission St
Served as the headquarters of the Mattachine Society, Daughters of Bilitis, and Pan Graphic Press.
The Mattachine Society (founded in LA in 1950) moved its national headquarters in 1957 to the Williams Building (through 1967). The Williams Building was also the location of offices of the Daughters of Bilitis (the nation’s first lesbian-rights organization, founded in San Francisco in 1955) and Pan Graphic Press, one of the first small gay presses in the US, responsible for publishing issues of both the Mattachine Review and The Ladder.
