Planned for 2020 but postponed due to the pandemic, the Theatre Royal will host a play involving Indigenous North Americans. Written by local playwright Nick Stimson and musician Seth Lakeman, it will explore the story of the Mayflower. It will however, unlike many earlier performances, do so with the full participation and collaboration of the Wampanoag people, 25 of whom will travel to Plymouth and appear as part of the production, giving Native people a genuine opportunity to tell their side of the Mayflower story in Britain.
