This piece is very similar to other work done by Betty Jacob Garelick, who we believe is the artist. Miss Jacob, born in Brooklyn and a longtime resident of Detroit, worked in clay, bronze, and wood carving.
"She was instructed at the School of Arts and Crafts, and has studied with Tom Brun. Her guides are the greats of modern sculpture; Epstein, Moore, Maillol, and Kathe Kollwitz" (Dr. Ernst Scheyer).
