A 30’ diameter in-ground labyrinth with adjacent 3 foot marble mosaic sphere. Materials: recycled concrete cores, marble mosaic ball, earthworks, landscaping & house paint.
To transform the worst drug dealer corner in the Oakwood neighborhood of Venice into a beautiful, interesting, safe & serene neighborhood park, Murez invited neighbors to join in creating an in-ground Labyrinth, (a spiritual path), to paint the Church, and landscape the garden.
Our efforts restored Bethel Tabernacle Church (the property owner), to its original Craftsman glory.
Years later, the craftsman caught the attention of other neighbors who researched the history of the site: Prior to being the Church, this was the Monday Women's Club, a 1920's Black Women's community house. It is now a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument.
