Village of Sloterdijk

Amsterdam, Amsterdam-West, Noord-Holland 1014 AD, Netherlands

Created By: James Madison University

Information

We’re standing in front of what remains of the old village of Sloterdijk. In 1465, the village was granted permission to construct a weigh house here by Philip the good, duke of burgundy. A small harbor that was part of the IJ river once came right to the edge of this dike.
