Information

The Virginia Street Chapel was the home of the Oakland Fourth Ward, covering East Oakland, until that ward moved to the Interstake Center in the 1970s. The building was renovated in the late 1980s, and rededicated in 1988 by Elder Paul Dunn of the Seventy. It subsequently housed Tongan Wards, an Asian program, and is the birthplace of the Oakland Ninth Branch (now Ward).
