Walker's Diner
Walker’s Diner was featured on an episode of “American Diner Revival”, hosted by Ty Pennington and aired May 22, 2015. Two men named Mr. Ford and Mr. Martin were the initial owners of the building. The diner itself was shipped from Kansas by train car to Virginia in 1952. The next owner, Paul O’Neal, bought it for $5,000, and the next three owners rented the land. The owners of the building/diner had a monthly payment, usually putting their tips in (around 50 cents) and the company that the owner dealt with would open the deposit box (for the monthly payment) on the outside of the building and collect around $30. Eventually, The Walker’s bought the land in 1989, and renamed it to Walker’s Diner after Mr. Walker quit his business as a barber.
