Westport United Church ~ Southeast Corner of Church & Spring Streets
Originally built as a Methodist church in 1889, this remarkable non-traditional designed monochromatic brick structure has three entrances to welcome worshipers from many streets. Inside, the spacious interior is flanked with natural wood and is set in a downward angle with circular seating. The choir alcove is located behind the pulpit under one of the traditional gothic stained glass windows. Pull out extension seating can be found at the end of each pew, which is a unique design found in very few churches of this time period.
