The Bronzeville Benches offer a unique and innovative approach to a historical art tour that parallels the unique innovations born out of this South Side Chicago neighborhood. “The benches celebrate Bronzeville’s unique history and achievements including its local architecture,its musical legacy, the message of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement, the community’s African heritage and the promise of local youth.”
This north cap of the bench tour is guest featured along with the Bronzeville Walk of Fame, as well as, the Recognition Panels. The benches included in this tour are as follows: Tribute, by Barbara Gyrgutis; Untitled I and Untitled II, respectively, by Brian Sauve; King Poloto and Queen Emmeya, respectively, by Kymberli Johnson; Guitar, Oswald Martin; Walk Around the Block, by Apache Wakefield; Soul, by Maureen Blossfeld; Louis and Lil, by Ted Garner; and, yOUTH, by Treasure Smith.
