Tour Information

When hiking around the trails of Sandy Pond in Freedom Maine make sure to come with the right outfit and supplies. I would recommend wearing pants boots and a long sleeve shirt to help with bugs and when going through the wetland areas. I don't know much about the area because of the very little information about it available. A friend showed it to me last year and said it was called the sandy pond trail that sits by Freedoms boat launch but that's the only info I have I couldn't find anything online.

Beech-Drops Epifagus

After going down the left side of the trail at the divide you can find this plant. It stood out to me because of its name and odd escription when I researched it.

Yellow Birch Betula alleghaniensis

Along the trail you come across a small area with birch trees in the forest ecosystem that has a couple differnt birchs. I've always liked the look of birchs bark as well as their leaves.

Red Alder Alnus Rubra

Red alder is another tree I first learned while in high school so that is why I chose to include it. It is located in a forest ecosystem along the same trail.

Right next to the red alder on the trail in the forest ecosystem I chose to include this plant because it was a new find to me that I found intresting.
