Tour Information

COLORADO LAGOON

The neighborhoods lining the edge of the Los Cerritos Wetlands have some of the most attractive views of nature and provide a variety of experiences, including the Colorado Lagoon and Jack Nichol Park.

Departing from WILL ROGERS PARK, begin walking north towards the COLORADO LAGOON, an urban wetlands area that was recently restored for recreational use and stormwater management. Crossing the floating bridge to the north bank of the lagoon reaches the RECREATION PARK NINE-HOLE GOLF COURSE. Walk East along Sixth Street into the upscale neighborhood of ALAMITOS HEIGHTS, made up of an eclectic mix of late century single-family homes. Weaving through the residential streets southeast eventually reaches to 2 MARINA VISTA PARK, an open space usually active with everything from softball to cricket, from rugby to tennis. After traversing through the park, walk east along Eliot Street veering to the right along the separated BIKE ROUTE 10. This quiet canopy covered pathway sneaks behind a half dozen intimate communities, until reaching the corner of Bellflower Boulevard and Loynes Drive. The adjacent neighborhood commercial center is home to a half dozen local eateries spanning the globe of culinary experiences. The service lane Costa Del Sol Way leads to the 3 JACK NICHOLS PARK, which forms the “End Beach” of the Marine Stadium harbor area. Walking southwest along the esplanade towards the Marine Stadium turn right at the shared inlet where the water’s edge is formed by the private docks of the 4 BAY HARBOR COMMUNITY. Cut through the Spinnaker Bay community daylights onto the 5 MARINE STADIUM, which hosted hosted the 1932 Olympics and the US trials for the 1968 Mexico city Olympics. Traverse the drought tolerant garden at the northeast end of the Marine Stadium to reach Will Rogers Park and the end of the circuit.
