This trail connects communities in Shelburne County passing through Sable River, Allendale, Jordan, Port Clyde, Barrington, Shag Harbour, Woods Harbour and Charlesville then connecting to the
trails in Queens and Yarmouth Counties.
The Shelburne County Rail Trail comprises more than eight trail segments eachwith their own attractions. It is a fantastic way to travel around this part of Nova Scotia without having to travel on roads or highways. The rails to trails are ideal for off-road cycling, long-distance trekking or off highway vehicle long distance travel through the forest and wilderness areas and along the shores of Shelburne County. These old railways have no excessively steep climbs and fairly level grades throughout. Hybrid or mountain bikes are best suited for the trail surface along hard packed, fine gravel due to their railroad past. Expect a wide range of trail users including walkers, hikers, cyclists, off highway vehicle users, equestrian and geocaching respecting each other, the trail and the environment.
