Very similar to its neighbor, the Tyler-Spite House, the Lane House has a facade of stucco and has color largely identical. The stand alone home was built in 1840. Again like the Tyler-Spite House it is an example the Federal style. An interesting feature of the Lane House is the brick and iron fence with a gate acting as a barrier to entry from the sidewalk. Looking at the building, one’s eyes are drawn to the black shutters and door which contrast the light color of the home. Also the front entryway is of note due to the Palladian style half round window with stained glass above the front door. Overall it has many similar aspects to the Tyler-Spite House with its single hung windows, and the two can be compared to get a greater sense of the styles that were prevalent during the time of construction.
