This is another textbook example of a Federal style house. It is actually part of a connected structure that was built in 1882. This structure spans from 132 West Church all the way to 142. Focusing on 140, one will notice similar characteristics to 132 in terms of the positioning and shape of the door and windows. There are few differences between the two, the first and most notable is the front entrance. Red brick steps lined with a black metal railing lead up to a landing in front of the house. The orange front door is pushed back within the building therefore one enters into a narrow entry that is enclosed by the surrounding house before reaching the door. Like 132 West Church it has accenting around the windows and door, yet for this house the color is light grey. This house in particular really gives one a greater glimpse into the past architectural history of Frederick because of its simplicity.
