220 E. Church street, constructed before 1850 is a simple urban residential common bond brick structure, built for a Federal merchant. This townhouse is 2-½ stories, gaining additional height from its pitched roof. As noted by one MD historic trust source, this building “helps create the nineteenth century charm of the city.” On the facade of the first floor we find the doorway to the left and two six over six windows in the center and right. The windowed door is fronted by a stoop, flanked by urns and topped by a four lite transom window and thin header. Three smaller six over six windows pierce the second floor. The structure is topped by a metal roof with snow guards and capped by a chimney on both the east and west sides.
