Information

Built during the Federal period, some time between 1830-40, 227 E Church Street is a simple urban two story residence. While the brick common bond structure has been painted a variety of colors over the years, its architectural features have been constant. The first floor of the facade features three windows and the doorway. The windows, one on the west and two on the east side, feature narrow headers and sills and black louvered shutters. The doorway is accessed via a single step stoop with black metal railings. The five paneled door is topped by a narrow transom window. Four windows identical in form, yet smaller in size to those on the first floor punctuate the second floor. Basement awning windows are placed at the east and west sides of the facade. The gable metal roof features chimneys at either end and snow guards along front.
