Agricultural Engineering – (460 Henry Mall) (b. 1905) was the first building on campus constructed using reinforced concrete. Agricultural Engineering Department, now called Biological Systems Engineering (BSE). The American Society of Agricultural Engineers was organized (1907) in this building. Engineers developed the modern forage harvester (F.W.Duffee), mechanical cherry harvester, seed corn dryer, and mechanical tree planter. Research was conducted on spontaneous combustion of forage, silo fires, dairy cattle housing, and soil conversation. BSE web site www.bse.wisc.edu.
