Scientific Name: Prunus serotina

Summary: This tree is known to grow on any type of soil, this tree, in particular, grows up behind our cow barn. The bark of this tree is a darker red-brown to a black color the leaves area a narrow at the base that widens out and then narrows back out again. The fruit is a dark purple to black color, unlike the pin cherry. I picked this tree because it is interesting to see the difference between the two cherry trees.
