Black Oak

Lincoln, Maine 04457, United States

Created By: Unity College

Information

Scientific Name: Quercus velutina

Summary: This tree grows in dry gravel areas, however, this tree was found near a dentist office in Lincoln Maine. The bark is smooth on young trees and dark and rough on older trees. The leaves are seven lobed and the lobes are shaper with a more narrow space between them. I picked this tree to show the contrast between black and white oaks.
