History of the Business

Carmen began working in the restaurant Business in 1957. He worked at the lunch counter of

Ace’s Pharmacy for five years until deciding to start his own business. In 1962, Carmen opened his first luncheonette in the basement of the Markle Bank Building. He shortly moved to the former Green Stamp Store and opened Carmen’s Restaurant. Carmen’s passion for his business would stop at nothing, not even a devastating fire in 1967. He quickly rebuilt and even expanded in 1974. It was at this time that he worked his business into the catering world as well! In 1980, Carmen’s Country Inn and Gardens opened in Drums In 1987, Carmen’s Bakery & Deli opened across from Carmen’s Restaurant. It was at this location he began to focus more on tasty treats and baked goods all made from scratch. In 2005, Carmen sold Carmen’s Restaurant and opened a hot entrée and Panini luncheonette at the bakery & deli. Broccoli, Shrimp, and Chicken Alfredo.
