With more than a dozen family-owned Italian restaurants in town, not to mention local churches that still make pierogies and Easter pies with Baba's recipes, this self-guided tour will help you navigate your way through Hazleton's ethnic culinary roots. Try the many traditional Italian, Polish, Slovak, and Ukranian specialties ranging from cold "pitza" and piping hot stromboli, to antipastas, cannolis, haluski, pierogi, halupki, kielbasa, and more! Pick up a bag or two of T&L's Pierogies from the local grocer (Thomas' or Boyer's) for dinner, or some Scamutz from The Cheese Store, made right here in Hazleton! Speak to the owners about their family businesses, and learn what makes each one special.
