The original owner of this Federal-style home, built in the 1810s, was Oliver Comstock. A doctor, Comstock went on to fill several important positions in village, county, and national affairs. Comstock served as a member of the House of Representatives from 1813 to 1819, and Congress Street got its name for this resident of distinction.
