First Presbyterian Church, 410 5th Avenue South; 1927-1929; Coolidge & Hodgdon, Architects, of Chicago; Daniel Haring, contractor.A sprawling church complex, the sanctuary "anchors" the corner at the 5th Avenue South-South 4th Street intersection. The educational wing and parish hall extend around the rear and opposite property line to form an open courtyard. The "open" street side of the court was originally designed to be closed by a two-story manse and tower. The church is an excellent example of the late Gothic Revival Style. It utilizes a simple forms and picturesque massing with emphasis on richly textured stone walls.
