H. E. Gates House/Ezra Baldwin House, 2714 Roosevelt Street; 1865.A small brick house, it has a hip roof with soffit brackets. The rear, two-room addition and porch were added c. 1880. The entry door has been rebuilt and widened, and the original entry porch removed. The house is a simplified Renaissance Revival Style. It was the home of Ezra Baldwin, a hardware dealer, who lived there until his death in 1871. A son later lived there and Baldwin School was named after him.
