Howes Block (Line's Department Store), 419-425 South 2nd Street; 1900; John Lake, Builder.A large, four-story commercial building, the exterior street facades of the building are of red face brick with decorative accents of red terra cotta. The ground-floor storefront and the upper-story windows have been altered and modernized. This building is of highly eclectic design with the major influence that of the Renaissance Revival Style, as evident in the use of engaged pilasters with lonic capitals.
