History of the Business: Est. 1937 by Jim and Theresa Grohol
Jimmy’s has always been a family run restaurant. Originally owned and operated by James and Lena George in 1937, Jimmy’s grandparents, later passed down to “Jimmy’s” parents, Leo and Catherine Grohol, in 1965 and finally passed on to Jimmy in 1988. There are many speculations as to why Jimmy’s is closed on Tuesdays. Jimmy’s personal favorite reason is the “Meatless Tuesday” theory. A high school teacher told their class that Jimmy’s is closed on Tuesdays in observance of Meatless Tuesdays during WWII. This was a time in our history when there was no meat sold to civilians to help give it to our service men. That teacher offered 10 extra credit points to any student that could get a receipt from Jimmys on a Tuesday. Only 1 student has ever succeeded.
***Fun Fact*** Jimmy met his wife Theresa while working at Jimmy’s and Jimmy’s parents also met in the restaurant!
