This home was built for John Holtzman, Mayor of Indianapolis from 1903-1905. He is known for several city improvements during his tenure including forming the Citizens Gas Company and the elevation of railroad tracks. Later, he formed a law partnership in the city. In 1905, he was officially decorated by the Guangxu Emperor of China, part of the Quing Dynasty.
