Created By: Mornington Railway Preservation Socicety Inc.

Information

As you arrive, the train sweeps around a right hand curve after crossing Tanti Creek. It stops just short of Yuilles Road, this now being the end of the line. Yuilles Road runs parallel with and just behind Nepean Highway.Whilst the railway continues over Yuilles Road and up to Napean Highway where it originally crossed the Nepean Highway and travelled right into Mornington town centre.

In 1981 the line was closed and the land was sold off and a shopping centre now stands on the site of original station and railway yard . The closure of the Mornington station and branch line was the catalyst for the establishment of the Mornington Railway Preservation Society Inc. which operates Mornington Railway today. The first train for 18 years arrived at Yuilles Road Mornington in April 1999.

A new platform was built by the Mornington Rotary Club to allow passengers to alight from or join the train at this terminus. The platform has subsequently been extended and a bypass loop added. In time this platform and facilities will be extended to include buildings with toilets, car parking and landscaping.

While here, please take the opportunity to visit the town centre and partake of it's excellent eataries and cultural attactions. On special occaisions, Mornington Railway runs a shuttle bus service. Please check with Station staff for more information.
