From this point, we have a wide panorama of the Mountain ranges surrounding the lake. Beginning on the right, the mountain range closest to usi s the ossipee range. The ossipees are an almost perfectly circular formation, also the remains of an ancient volcano. The highest point is mount shaw, at 2975 feet above sea level.
To the left of the ossipees and further away is the sandwich range. The sandwich range is about 30 miles long and includes several peaks over 40000 feet above sea level. The best known peak is mount chocorua, a bare, rocky summit at the east end of the range. Chocorua is reputed to be the most photographed peak in the white mountains. The west end of the range is mount tripyramid, which forms part of the famous Waterville valley ski area. Ahead and to the right of the ship is the squam range, a range of lower hills which lie to the north of squam lake. Finally on the left is the Belknap range once again.
