Post Office in 1950s

Although the exterior has since been covered over with a false front, the building at the corner of First and Oak was once a prime example of Art Moderne architecture. The Hotel is another example of Art Moderne architecture. This streamlined architectural style was prominent in Myrtle Creek in the 40s and 50s. Typical features were sleek lines, curved walls and glass block windows. In 1950’s, this was the location of the Post Office, the California-Oregon Power Company and Jones & Dyer Insurance.
