Scientific Name: Quercus coccinea
Summary: The Scarlet Oak is typically found in dry soils, this tree, however, is found at Lee academy on Winn Road, It is noticeable by the red inside and how the leaves turn a dark red in the fall helping to lend to its name. I picked this tree because of how the bark is an interesting color, and I like the color of the leaves in the fall.
This point of interest is part of the tour: Dendrology Lee
