This silver maple was planted by my great grandfather in the early 1900s. It is one of my favorite trees because it has a tire swing on it that I used to play with as a kid. Silver maples are not the best tree to plant next to your house, since they have brittle limbs. As any observer can tell, this particular tree has had its fair share of breakages, but it still has a lovely autumn color. This specimen can be found on the front lawn of Lemieux's Orchard.
