King Drive
Starting at 35th and King Drive, landmarks include the Supreme/Liberty Life Building and Victory Monument. Here you can also see the historic housing stock on King Dr. and learn about the history and legacy of the neighborhood as a city within a city — including its literary and military history; the restrictive covenants on land use, and how Bronzeville got its name.
This area was also home to Camp Douglas during the Civil War and is central to the Great Migration story. The Bronzeville Walk of Fame — a collection of plaques embedded in the sidewalks along King Drive between 25th and 35th St. — pays tribute to over 100 legendary figures who made their mark on the area.
This point of interest is part of the tour: A Stroll Through History and Culture on 35th
