At 35th and Calumet Avenue, you arrive at what was once the Sunset Cafe one the second floor of the building that is now a beauty supply store. A block further on Giles is the Eighth Regiment Armory. 
North of 35th on Indiana between 35th and 33rd are two historic landmarks, the Pilgrim Baptist Church and the historic home of the Chicago Defender.

At the southwest corner of 35th and Michigan is the Chicago Police Headquarters, and opposite on the northwest corner is De LaSalle High School.
