Scientific Name: Larix laricina
Summary: This tree is typically found in swampy places, this tree however is found on the outside of our horse pasture. The Tamarack has spines that form a triangular shape and they turn yellow in the fall and they look almost soft and then fall off. The reason that I picked this tree is that I think it is interesting that it is one of the only conifers that lose all of its spines.
